ART CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
The art contest is open to traditionally homeschooled (parent directed, family funded) students between the ages of 10 and 18 who are Pennsylvania residents. All entrants must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
The art contest is open from 01/01/2010 to 02/28/2010.
There are two ways of entering the contest:
- Participants can enter online at www.chaponline.com by completing the registration form. Submit your registration and a picture of the artwork along with the $10 registration fee. The entry must be submitted between 01/01/10 and 02/28/10.
- Participants may also enter by mailing a registration form, one picture (that is not returnable), and the $10 registration fee to the CHAP office at 231 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Entries must be postmarked no earlier than 01/01/2010 and no later than 02/28/2010. CHAP is not responsible for any misdirected, inaccurate, incomplete, lost, late, delayed, undeliverable, damaged or illegible entries, and all such entries will be void.
The art contest will be divided into two categories:
Group A is for children between the ages of 10 and 14. Group B is for children between the ages of 15 and 18.
Each participant will receive a certificate of participation, given at the 2010 CHAP Convention or in the mail.
Each category will have three winners:
- 1st - $250, Certificate, Admission to Convention
- 2nd - $100, Certificate, Admission to Convention
- 3rd - $50, Certificate, Admission to Convention
- Honorable Mentions
You must indicate that you are in compliance with the following statements when completing the entry form:
- I am currently a Pennsylvania traditionally homeschooled (parent directed, family funded) student between the ages of 10 and 18.
- I have read the rules for the CHAP Art Contest. I understand them and agree to follow the rules.
- I guarantee that the artwork is my own original work.
- I have attached a picture of my artwork along with payment of the $10 entrance fee.
- I give consent for my art to be printed in any CHAP publication (CHAP magazine, CHAP Website…).
- I have permission from one of my parents/guardians to participate in the CHAP Art Contest.
The artwork must be the participant’s own original work. The artwork must be mounted and matted* and no larger than 20” x 20” (including mat).
The artwork must be in one of the following media:
- pencil
- pen
- pastels
- paint
- photography
The judging will be based on artistic skill, creativity and overall presentation. Images must be appropriate for display. Any images that are obscene, disturbing or otherwise inappropriate will not be considered. CHAP has sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.
CHAP will review entries and choose artwork to be displayed at the 2010 CHAP Homeschool Convention. These participants will then be notified and are responsible for bringing their artwork to the 2010 CHAP Homeschool Convention, located at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, on Friday morning, May 7, 2010, before the Convention begins. The final judging will take place at the Convention. The winners will be decided by judges appointed by CHAP, and all decisions of the judges are final. The winners will be announced at the Friday evening ceremony. The artwork will remain on display in the convention hall until the conclusion of the Convention. The artwork may be picked up by the participant at the close of the Convention. Any items not claimed will become the property of CHAP.
* Mounting is the way a print is attached to a support board. Matting is the paperboard window which surrounds the print.
